Detailed Tasks Assigned:
- Liaise with and report to the Client / Client’s Representative on all aspects of the Project;
- Carry out contract negotiations with the Client and sub-contract with consultants;
- Organize & arrange project team meetings both with the Client and the Consultants;
- Head of the preparation, direction design and supervision of developing the design;
- Sign all official documents and correspondence emanating from the Architect’s office to the Client, Consultants, Contractors and Sub-Contractors;
- In charge of all the aspects of design which involves developing the detailed brief and work closely with the other Consultants in producing the Final Design Report;
- Co-ordinate all inputs of the Project Team Members;
- Carry out Site Inspections and Site Meetings of ongoing projects;
- Supervise rectification of defects during Defects Liability Period and issue of relevant certification in preparation to handover project to the Client.
Key Achievements:
Mr. Munyanya was elected as the Vice-President of the International Union of Architects in September 2017, a position he for four years until the subsequent General Assembly in 2021.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Certified Mini-MBA in Strategic Project Management. He is a graduate student at the University of Salford in United Kingdom in which he is pursuing Strategy and Project Management.
He is a registered architect with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (BORAQS).
He is a fellow of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and a past Chairman of the AAK. He was the Treasurer for the Africa Union of Architects and President of the East Africa Institute of Architects (EAIA).
He is one of the Directors of AIA Architects Limited, previously Adventis Inhouse Africa Ltd incorporated in 2005 after a merger between Adventis Limited and In-House Architects.
Mr. Munyanya has been a Member of the Panel of Experts for Classification of Hotels, Restaurants,
and other Tourist facilities in East Africa since 2005. He is accredited by the East Africa Community
(EAC) Secretariat. He was part of the team that prepared the criteria for classification of hotel facilities
in the entire East Africa Community which brings together Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi
and recently South Sudan.
He is an Expert trainer of trainers. He has participated in classification of hotels and training of trainers
and classifiers in EAC for over 19 years.
Mr. Munyanya is a Committee member of the Kenya Arab Friendship Society which is the custodian of the Masjid ul Rahma at Hurlingham, Nairobi besides running other charitable activities.
He is also the Vice President of the Federation of African and Arab Consultants.

Mr. Munyanya has had a vast experience in working with several firms. These include AIA Architects Limited, his current firm, Adventis Inhouse Africa, , Symbion International where he worked as an Architect before rising to be an Associate of the firm.
He has also worked as an architect at Plence International and Conte Designs.
Apart from that, he was also an assistant lecturer at the Kenya Polytechnic between 1990 and 1991.
2002 – 2024 AIA Architects Limited
2024 The lead architect for preparation of temporary shelter for displaced persons due to raging floods that has afflicted Kenya since March 2024. The task includes selection of appropriate sites and working directly with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development which reports directly to the President of the Republic of Kenya. The entire exercise is coordinated by the head of state.
2023 Part of the team of the experts brought together and coordinated by the Kenya Defence Forces and refurbished the Kenyatta International Convention Centre for the Africa Climate Summit 2023.
2022 to date. Architect for the Shujaa Park Homes and affordable housing project at Jericho , Nairobi. 3,600 housing units are being developed.
2023 to date Architect in charge for the development of the Federation of Kenya Employer’s Headquarters, in Upperhill area, Nairobi, a 15-storey mixed urban development project. The projectr is at detailed design stage.
2019 Architect for Proposed Service Station, Two-Storey Office Block and Eatery in Ruiru for Viashla Investment Limited. The project is currently on site.
2018 Architect for Fire Station at Lamu Port at Manda Bay, Lamu.
2017 Architect for Detailed Design, Review and Supervision of Construction for the First Three Berths and Associated Infrastructure for the Proposed Lamu Port at Manda Bay, Lamu. A project being undertaken in association with Yooshin Engineering Company from Korea. The project is currently on site.
Architect for Proposed Housing Development (redevelopment of Old Estates) in Uhuru Estate for City County of Nairobi on PPP. The project is in its final stages of award and preparation of documentation.
Architect for Completion of Epic Hotel in Rwanda. The project was completed in October 2017.
2016 Architect for Proposed Completion of Offices on Kawi House, South C for the National Oil Corporation of Kenya. The project was completed in July 2017.
Project Architect for Proposed Extensions and Alterations to SOS Kayonza Primary School in Rwanda for SOS Kinderdorf International (SOS Children’s Village, Rwanda). The project was completed in January 2017.
He was the Architect for Completion of the ultra-modern Kigali Convention Centre, which also has Raddisson Blu hotel, in Rwanda. The project was completed in June 2016.
1999 – 2002 Associate, Symbion International.
Responsible for overall Client liaison and Local Authority approvals.
Major Accomplishments:
Site supervision and quality control of Aga Khan Hospital’s construction of the New Private Wing and extension to the Doctors Plaza. (Princess Zahra Pavillion)
UN related Experience: Design of new Health Club Facilities for UNON.
2000-2002 Lead Architect in charge of Africa Reinsurance Corporation Regional Headquarters project.
Architect responsible for all Kenol / Kobil projects including Kengeles Koinange Street, Thika Road & Kula Korner Restaurant in Hurlingham.
1998-2002 Responsible for carrying out architectural site survey to establish the extent of the damage to Co-operative Bank Ltd after the 7th August 1998 bomb blast.
1997 Responsible for preparation of interior design and production information for Sumitomo Offices located at I&M Building.

1995 Refurbishment of New Stanley Hotel, Nairobi Kenya. Was involved in preparation of production information.
Preparation of production information for four new lodges belonging to Tourism Promotion Services, in northern Tanzania (Kirawira, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara). Approx. project cost was US$ 32million.
1994 Involved in the preparation of production information for Paraa Lodge, a new lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda.
