About the Conference

The climate crisis has completely altered our familiar landscape, posing challenges to the priorities of individuals, businesses, public administrations, societies, and nations. Due to climate change, both urban and rural areas are now experiencing phenomena that were previously unimaginable. A recent UN climate report suggests there may be no turning back soon. At least 30% of the global population is exposed to hazardous climate conditions for at least 20 days per year, while the disasters in 2022 incurred a cost of $313 billion worldwide.

During this pivotal moment, we must redefine our priorities and approach to our daily lives and activities. The greatest challenge is to identify the opportunities and best strategies to manage the new reality effectively.

The pivotal role of engineers cannot be overstated at this juncture. In light of this, the Engineers and Public Works Contractors Fund (TMEDE) is spearheading an important initiative by convening its first international conference, “Redefining the Future Horizons: Designing the Sustainable Strategies of Tomorrow,” on June 13 and 14 at the TMEDE headquarters, 3-5 Germanou Street, Athens..

The conference aims to map and highlight these significant challenges, risks, opportunities, and key issues posed in the light of Greek and global experience and new scientific data. The new challenges faced by Greek banks, construction companies, and the country’s engineering world call for prudent and productive reflection, new strategic planning, dynamism, and determination.

Hosting distinguished speakers from Greece and other countries, we aim for this initiative to provide all stakeholders with comprehensive information on the significant changes taking place and help establish a “roadmap” for a sustainable future.
